Normally, if you think about huge mountains and the Alps you think about Austria, Switzerland or Italy. But Germany has some stunning and breathtaking mountains and mountain lakes as well. There is the famous Zugspitze (2962m), the Watzmann (2713m), the Königssee and the area around Berchtesgaden or Garmisch-Partenkirchen to name a few only.

I took a lot of time in the mountains of the German Alps (Deutsche Alpen) to capture my images. Especially the place at the famous Hintersee near the small village Ramsau is one of my favorite place. Thats the reason why you find at least three images from this beautiful place in the calendar. But every single capture is so beautiful and it was not possible to leave these images out of the calendar.

Calendar images

The January image is of course the image of Germanys highest mountain, the Zugspitze and in front lake Eibsee. The lake is at around 900m above sea level and there are so many beautiful place. It looks a bit like the lakes you can find in the great Canadian National Parks.

In some cases I stood up very early in the morning to catch the sunrise during summertime in the German Alps. I did not count the days standing up and not getting an image because of a quite bad weather situation. Often you have the hope that the sky will clear up, but at the end of the day nothing happens. To build up a calendar like this so many attempts are necessary to capture the images which I have in my mind.
